About the Sustainable Neighborhood Small Grant Competition

The City of St. Louis Sustainable Neighborhood Small Grant Competition was an opportunity for neighborhood organizations and community groups to propose projects that would help improve livability and enhance quality of life in their own community. In the first year, 43 groups representing 30 of the City’s neighborhoods submitted applications. With the generous support of the Funders’ Network and nine Local Sustainability Funders, the City awarded $5,000 to each of seven winning projects to implement triple bottom line sustainable neighborhood project ideas. This competition is just one part in an overall initiative to bring the Sustainability Plan to life through supporting tangible and visible projects that promote sustainability at the neighborhood level. The goal is to learn and share from these projects so neighborhoods across the City can further adopt sustainability ideas and best practices.
